Five New Zealand short-track ice speed-skating squad members produced creditable performances in the Asian leg of the World Cups series.

Christchurch's Blake Skjellerup led the Kiwi charge, finishing 10th overall in the 1000m at the third World Cup in China - the highest placing for a New Zealand skater in recent years.

He was also 14th in the 1500m in the fourth World Cup at Japan last weekend.

Mark Jackson was 25th in the 1500m and 27th in the 1000m in Japan.

Thomas Pearce competed well at his first World Cups meets, setting two personal best times in China after a three-month training stint in Korea.

Corey Williams joined the team for the Japan leg and was 27th overall in the 5000m at his first World Cup.
